Meet Bianca

Addressing education inequity via empathy-based culturally responsive communication with youth has been a lifelong goal. My program was developed over almost two decades of experiences, determination, and dedication to changing the reality of what it is to be a young person of color in America.

These days, I periodically check-in on my old students across the country. Bianca was a student in a 5th grade science classroom where I was refining my culturally responsive communication practices. In her case, I was welcomed into the high school she and many of my past students attended. I talked about my experiences, lessons learned after my accident, and my current pursuits.

Bianca offered to be interviewed about the effect my practices had on her education experiences then, now, and the lessons she learned beyond academics.
